Erika Rajo, PsyD is a licensed clinical psychologist in Louisiana, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at LSU Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC), Director of the Trauma Recovery Clinic at University Medical Center New Orleans (UMCNO), and Co-Director of the Spirit of Charity Trauma Center Psychiatry Research Unit. Dr. Rajo specializes in psychological trauma with an emphasis on PTSD screening and treatment for survivors of traumatic injury as well as their families. In addition to having worked for more than 10 years with children and adults impacted by trauma, Dr. Rajo is on the training faculty for LSUHSC Clinical Psychology Internship and Fellowship programs. As an assistant professor and clinical supervisor, she works closely with psychology trainees, including predoctoral interns and postdoctoral fellows, as well as psychiatry residents to develop their professional competence in areas such as clinical supervision, trauma psychology, and multicultural practice.  Her mission to increase access to culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care has led to numerous initiatives within the healthcare system and broader community. In collaboration with the LSUHSC Campus Assistance Program, Dr. Rajo developed RISE UP, a healing space for BIPOC students to connect and learn effective strategies for resisting/recovering from race-based traumatic stress. She recently received the 2021 Healthcare Heroes Award from New Orleans City Business for her efforts to support the emotional well-being of frontline workers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
