Sula Kim

Sula Kim is an award-winning journalist at WDSU (NBC-TV) in New Orleans Louisiana.

She currently anchors the 6 and 10 pm newscasts at WDSU Channel 6 as one of the main anchors of the station. Most recently Kim was part of the station's 72 hour wall-to-wall coverage of Hurricane Ida, bringing viewers important information on safety pre-storm and recovery after the storm.

 Kim first joined WDSU in 2012 as morning anchor, reporting on many political and educational issues of the city and in 2013, Kim was selected to help moderate NBC's Education Nation with Hoda Kotbe. In 2014, Kim covered the Sochi Winter Olympics in Russia for all 30 Hearst owned TV stations across the country.

In 2015 Kim went to work for KING-TV, the NBC affiliate in Seattle Washington, but two years later, returned to her adopted home of New Orleans and back to WDSU as the main anchor, covering some big news including the death of Saints owner Tom Benson and several Hurricanes of 2020.

Kim's long career journey includes work at WBAY-TV, the ABC affiliate in Green Bay Wisconsin, and WVEC-TV in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Over the years, Kim has received numerous journalism and community awards including a regional Edward R. Murrow award, an Emmy award for the Virginia Tech shooting in 2007, the Walter Cronkite award for Political Journalism, Louisiana Broadcasters Award, Sigma Delta Chi award, Press Club Award, and several other Emmy nominations.

Kim believes in the importance of giving back and has been volunteering her time for many local charitable organizations including Giving Hope, APAS and Women of Hope United. Kim has served as the main moderator for the Zurich Classic Executive Women’s Day Event for the past 5 years.

Kim is a native of Los Angeles and studied Communications at the University of California San Diego.

 

She is married to a New Orleans firefighter and the mommy of a beautiful Dogo Argentino named Gracie who makes a regular appearance on her social media page.
